Whitney Houston was known to sing some of the biggest chart-topping love and heartbreak songs, but her family just shared that there was more to her music than that.

Houston's family explained why the iconic singer would also include at least one gospel song on her setlists.

"Gospel was the center of her gravity," said her sister-in-law, Pat Houston. "She always said, 'Wherever I go, it doesn't matter: I will always tell the world of the love that I have from Jesus.'"

Houston was able to sing at some of the biggest stages in the world and do just that. "She was able to bring God's word to a broader audience through her music," Pat continued.

Over a decade later, Houston's legacy and memory is being revisited and relived by her fans for one more time.

The singer's estate dropped "I Go to The Rock," a gospel music album, that features 14 songs.

'I Go to The Rock'

The album opens with the title track "I Got to the Rock," followed by "Jesus Loves Me," "He Can Use Me," "Joy to the World," "Bridge Over troubled Water," "Testimony," and "I Look to You."

"His Eye is on the Sparrow," "Hold On, Help Is On The Way," "This Day," "I Found a Wonderful Way," "Joy," "I Love the Lord," and "He/I Believe."

Aside from the new album, Houston's estate also announced that a documentary about her will be released. It will air on UPtv and AspireTV.

As per the singer's website, they say that the documentary will feature "Whitney's gospel journey and feature six never-before-released songs, several from as early as 1981."

Posthumous

The newly released gospel music album is the exactly what Houston would have wanted to impart her fans with even after her death.

"You heard the innocence of her voice," Pat said. "You could see where she started and how she ended up with all her hits throughout her career."

"Any song is a great song of Whitney Houston's. You heard her gospel roots all wrapped up in her music."

According to the Associated Press, prior to her career taking off, Houston began singing in her local church, the New Hope Baptist Church in New Jersey.

While she has obviously grown from her humble roots, the singer kept her faith close to her heart and was vocal about it, too.

"We're doing this all through Whitney's lens. It's special because this is her 60th birthday celebration. This project is definitely a labor of love for her. It represents her in such a very spiritual way."
