Thanks primarily to Eminem and Vitamin Water, rapper 50 Cent has made quite a bit of dough in his lifetime.

But he's probably never seen the kind of checks that boxer Floyd Mayweather pulls in.

Mayweather struck the most recent blow in their social media battle with Instagram pics of two checks totaling more than $72 million. VIBE points out that Mayweather earned more than $100 over the past year and is the highest-paid athlete in sports.

The images featured the following caption: "Read this $72,276,000.00. God bless."

So what's the deal?

As previously reported, the banter began earlier this week when 50—upset by rumors of Mayweather talking smack—challenged the boxer to read one page of Harry Potter on video (he called it an "ALS/ESL Challenge").

Then, 50 offered another barb and told Mayweather that the boxer could go on Jimmy Kimmel's show and read The Cat In The Hat instead.

The story gained traction and eventually came to the attention of the crew working at The Breakfast Club, a hip-hop oriented radio show on Power 105. DJ Charlamagne Tha God surprised listeners with an audio recording of Mayweather attempting to read a radio "drop" (promo) last spring.

Charlamagne read the prompt to show what Mayweather was trying to read:

"I'm Floyd Mayweather and I've joined I Heart Radio for The Show Your Stripes movement to support hiring vets. Go to showyourstripes.org, a website that connects veterans with employees and helps business find canidates with the best training."

Then he played the tape, and the results weren't pretty. Mayweather struggled to recite the short paragraph, and one of the other DJs eventually called for an end to the clip.

We still haven't heard anything from Mayweather about the video, but on Saturday, he opted to flash his math skills for 50.
