Fans received the most heartbreaking and gut-wrenching news over the weekend: Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn have allegedly broken up.
Entertainment Tonight received word from a source that the "Anti-Hero" singer and English actor broke up a few weeks ago.
The source also noted that the split "was not dramatic," and "the relationship had just run its course."
Swift and Alwyn have been together for six years, and have grown so close that they even began collaborating and making music together.
The actor is often the muse in the singer's music, where she references their relationship and all of its simplicity and hardships as a celebrity couple.
According to reports, Alwyn was not present in any of Swift's shows for her "Eras Tour," and the break up was the reason behind it.
PR Stunt?
When the news broke out, fans immediately took to social media to share their reactions and even theories as to what caused the breakup.
Other fans even went as far as to theorize that the couple isn't actually broken up, but the entire thing is simply a rouse to divert everyone's attention.
A fan talked about how Swift is dominating the music scene by performing in sold-out shows night after night, and outperforming some of her fellow artist, "and yet the best they can do in the middle of her huge tour is talk about her relationship."
Another fan echoed the first's sentiments and wrote, "idk why I feel like this is a tactic people are using again because she's about to become a billionaire and this decade's most successful musician and recently kicked off with her extremely successful Eras tour..."
"Okay, I agree 100% but like this big of a rumor.. and media sources confirming it (with no strong evidence BTW) like I still don't believe they're true either but like- this is huge. I'm just hoping the best for both of them. still rooting for them."
Most of the Swfties refuse to believe that Swift and Alwyn have broke up, and in fact, the words "I refuse to believe," written in all capital letters is currently trending, along with several other things, like Swift's song "Cornelia Street," which is allegedly dedicated to Alwyn.

Who's Next
According to reports, other fans have already suggested who the singer should date next.
"Taylor Swift date a woman next pls," wrote a user online.
"Taylor Swift is gonna date Pete Davidson next."
However, there isn't any official word on whether the pair are truly over, and it seems like Swift isn't likely to talk about her dating life anytime soon.
