The "Wicked" movie is currently in development, and fans can't help but wait to watch the celebration throughout Oz on the big screens on November 2024 in cinemas!

Despite the "perfect" casting for the iconic roles, a familiar and significant role in the film has yet to be filled in by an actor or actress, if we must say.

'Wicked' Movie Doctor Dillamond Casting News

In the past few months, the actors playing the characters in the highly-anticipated "Wicked" movie have been revealed.

Cynthia Erivo will be playing Elphaba, Ariana Grande will play Glinda, Jonathan Bailey for Fiyero, Oscar-winner Michelle Yeoh for Madam Morrible, and Jeff Goldblum for the Wizard.

The main cast has already been set, including the minor characters like Boq, Nessarose, and other students of Shiz University has also been announced, but there is still a missing character whose actor has not yet been revealed - Doctor Dillamond.

For those who don't know who he is, Doctor Dillamond is the anthropomorphic goat teacher, the only animal teacher at Shiz University. He confides with Elphaba, played by Erivo, about the discrimination he has been suffering, much like the embattled witch's green complexion.

Dillamond was a key figure in the story as he told Elphaba about the conspiracy to stop animals from speaking, a cause he wanted to inform the Wizard of, which added fuel to Elphaba's fire on wanting to meet the man behind the curtain. Days after, Dillamond was eventually fired from his teaching post, infuriating Elphaba even further.

As of this writing, news about who will play Doctor Dillamond has been scarce.

However, a Broadway source, Sweaty Oracle, revealed in a TikTok Video that a rumor had been going on saying that the role would be gender-swapped in the film.

'Wicked' Movie's Doctor Dillamond Will Be Played By A Female

Initial reports as to who would be playing Doctor Dillamond in the 'Wicked' film are James Corden and Lin Manuel Miranda.

However, Sweaty Oracle thought that casting the two would anger some of the loyal fans of the show.

After going on and explaining why Miranda and Corden would be a bad choice for the film, he also revealed that the role would be played by a woman.

Oracle admitted that there are conflicting reports as to who will play Dillamond, but names like Idina Menzel, the original Elphaba on Broadway, and Keala Settle are the most promising ones so far.
