After rumors of Liam Payne being desperate to have a One Direction reunion to revive his career and image, comes news that he might be switching careers.

According to reports, the One Direction alum shared a promotional poster of himself and boxer Tommy Fury. It also reads "This summer. Announcement tomorrow."

Fans were initially baffled by the poster, but then they began to worry. Payne has never really shown any interest in boxing, much less has enough experience to go up against a professional.

"LIAM JAMES PAYNE PLEASE EXPLAIN," a fan commented on the singer's Instagram post.

"Whatever it is, I hope there is no boxing involved," another added.

"Liam babe very bad idea please rethink."

Other fans thought that the announcement might just be a jest, but they did not find it amusing: "April Fools was last week ...."

Who is Tommy Fury

Fury is a professional boxer and a reality star. He has a total of nine fights, and he won all of them. Out of his nine matches, he won four by knockout.

Some might also be familiar with Fury as he had just won a boxing match against YouTuber, Jake Paul.

No one is certain why Payne seems to be going up against Fury, but a fan suggested that the fight might not be a boxing match at all.

"It's not a boxing match. It's soccer aid at Old Trafford. Thank me later, sorry for ruining the hype," the fan wrote.

A report suggests that the entire thing might just be a gimmick for both Fury and Payne-especially since this news came out of nowhere and no one had anticipated this in their 2023 celebrity bingo card.

Another report noted that the soccer match seems to make the most sense. This year's Soccer Aid football match will be held at Old Trafford on June 11, the very same place Payne and Fury's "match" will be held.

Liam Payne's Music Career

With the news of a possible career change, fans have brought up the rumors that Payne is "desperate" for a One Direction reunion so that he could save his reputation.

According to Hapers Bazaar, a source revealed that the "Strip That Down" singer isn't happy with how his solo career ended up-he wants the level of success and fame that his other bandmates have achieved, like Harry Styles, who recently won major awards at the Grammys.

However, it should also be noted that fans are displeased with Payne and his behavior after the boyband broke up several years ago.

During an interview, he claimed that "Strip That Down"-a song where he sings about being a member of 1D ("You know I used to be in 1D, Now I'm out free)-"outsold" everyone else's solo music.
