Will Foo Fighters finally introduce its new drummer after Taylor Hawkins' death?

Foo Fighters confirmed it would continue performing after the passing of its drummer. However, the band has not revealed who the new member will be despite its continuous gigs.

There have been rumors that Matt Cameron would join the band on its upcoming shows, but the drummer has since denied it. However, Foo Fighters recently reignited the talks after releasing a new mysterious teaser clip.

Foo Fighters Drops New Teaser Clip

On Foo Fighters' official Twitter page, the band unveiled a 13-second clip that features hyping background music.

It also shows the text "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" typed in with low opacity.

While the band did not detail whether it is about new music or a new band member, fans quickly theorized that the video seemingly featured Foo Fighters' new drummer, who reportedly sounded like its lead singer and guitarist David Grohl.

On Reddit, fans suggested that Grohl might hold another instrument for the band and become its official drummer.

One said, "This particular song sounds like Dave to me, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear T on a full album. And it would I'm sure bring all of us joy to hear him drum once more."

"Really getting Alone + East Target massive-room reverb and hard-beat vibes from the drumming. Sounds like Dave," another wrote.

Grohl notably became the drummer of Nirvana from 1990 to 1994. After forming Foo Fighters, he focused on being its lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter. He also notably drummed in for the rock supergroup, Them Crooked Vultures.

Foo Fighters' Rumored Drummers

Before the theory emerged, there have already been talks that Grohl himself might fill in instead. Rufus Taylor's name also appeared in those reports.

However, one Instagram user - who claimed that a friend who works roadies for bands and is part of Foo Fighters' tour - said that a drummer would be behind a curtain instead during the band's 2023 tours.

The user added, "The main drummer is a dude from the uk who has worked with pop bands like Sam Smith and the kaiser chiefs."

Foo Fighters have not commented on the rumor yet.

The band lost its drummer after Hawkins died at the age of 50 ahead of the band's scheduled performance in Bogotá, Colombia's Festival Esterio Picnic.
