Nikki Sixx delivered an update on Motley Crue's current music project after Mick Mars filed a lawsuit against the band.

Mars and Motley Crue are currently embroiled in a legal showdown after the musician accused the band of removing him from the group and gaslighting him. He announced his touring retirement in October, months before filing the lawsuit.

Amid the legal headache, Motley Crue member Nikki Sixx shared an update regarding the band's music project.

Motley Crue Works on New Music

On Thursday, Sixx unveiled new Twitter posts as he confirmed that he and touring guitarist John 5 recently wrote random rifts in the studio. John 5 became Motley Crue's new touring guitarist since Mars' touring retirement announcement.

In the first tweet, Sixx included a photo of him, John 5, and Tommy Lee spending time together for "another killer songwriting day."

In the next post, the musician detailed what Motley Crue is currently up to.

"We are writing. The creative process of songwriting has always been the heartbeat of our band. We're gonna go in the big studio next week and record a few off the floor and see where it goes. We don't have a definitive plan at this point. Just letting the songs guide us," Sixx went on.

Motley Crue has not released a new EP since "Saint of Los Angeles" in 2008. It remains unknown whether the song Sixx and the members are working on will be a single or a part of a full album.

Motley Crue, Mick Mars' Feud Explored

Mars launched a lawsuit accusing the band of kicking him off the group after he decided to end his touring career as he deals with the effects of his decades-long battle with ankylosing spondylitis.

In the filing, he claimed that the band forced him to sign a severance agreement in exchange for a compensation package. This would prevent him from being part of the band's current and future businesses.

Mars' attorney also said that Motley Crue's lawyers warned him he would get nothing if he does not accept the severance package, as reported by Variety.

In response to the first filing, Sixx penned a tweet in which he said that the band also does not deserve the lawsuit. He also sent his wishes to his bandmate to find lawyers and managers who "aren't damaging him."
