Overkill has been in the industry for decades now and the band just dropped their 20th studio album. More recently, rock veteran Bobby Blitz spoke in an interview and revealed his true feelings to those who believe that their group is only a "one trick pony."

The musician dropped by Full Metal Jackie's weekend radio show where he was asked about what changes the most about the nature of their band through the years.

The American singer explained that the music part of their group is something that they have to "reinvent" without losing their identity even though the band has been known for many years now.

Throughout their careers, Bobby explained that they never had an identity crisis, but they always have to share new music to fans that would still feel fresh.

Bobby Blitz's Message to People Who Say Overkill is a 'One Trick Pony'

Furthermore, the Overkill singer opened up about the public criticizing them for being a one trick pony and he has one thing to say:

"People could say Overkill are a one trick pony and they've been that way since Feel the Fire or The Years of Decay or Horrorscope, but the truth is that someone who says something like that is really not listening to the songs," he said. (via Loudwire)

He added that those people might listen to some of their songs and compared it to the older one, but the two of them are completely different.

"We're not a one trick pony and we need that reinvention to stay fresh. Even if it's reinventing what was reinvented, that's what makes the whole thing stay current and stay fun," he added.

Overkill New Album 2023

After four years of waiting, fans finally got the chance to hear new music from Overkill as they recently released their 20th studio album titled "Scorched."

The latest album, which was the follow-up to their 2019 record "The Wings of War," has been in the works for years. They first teased fans about the project as early as 2019 and the group was able to write songs within a few months after their announcent.

Bassist D. D. Verni already wrote nine songs by April of 2020 and the group started recording in September of that year.

It was initially scheduled to come out that year, but was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was re-scheduled to be released in 2021, but was moved for a few months.

Despite the initial announcements, the release date was still postponed twice until it was finally dropped on April 14, 2023.

"Scorched" is now available for streaming on major music platforms online.
