Metallica members received a warning from The Rolling Stones' personal assistant decades ago.

Nearly two decades ago, Metallica and The Rolling Stones performed together at the SBC Park, now Oracle Park, in the former's San Francisco hometown. It marked the first time the band supported another musical act since 1992.

According to Lars Ulrich, working with The Rolling Stones was both "an honor and a privilege."

Metallica Forbidden To Do THIS to The Rolling Stones' Mick Jagger

In a new interview with Bill Maher on his Club Random with Bill Maher podcast, Ulrich recalled the Nov. 13 and 15, 2005 show and recalled how he and his bandmates were told not to look vocalist Mick Jagger in the eye when the vocalist walked through the backstage area of the venue.

Ulrich recalled dreaming of playing with The Rolling Stones. As a kid, he reportedly always wanted to play with different bands, including Deep Purple and AC/DC. But the last one he was able to check was The Rolling Stones.

"At one point a personal assistant or whatever comes and says, 'Mick Jagger's gonna walk through here in a couple of minutes, he's going over to his private gym in his truck, and he's going to warm up before the show. When he walks through here, please don't make eye contact with him or talk to him,'" he recalled.

Instead of asking why, Metallica members started asking how it was possible for him to bring a truck with the portable gym.

Maher interrupted him and asked Ulrich more about instruction. The Metallica member then said they were only allowed to have an eye contact with the band when they were having a photo taken with them as they walked to the stage.

How The Rolling Stones Prevented Metallica's Disbandment

Aside from working together, The Rolling Stones and Metallica shared a special bond together.

In a separate interview with The Sun, the drummer said The Rolling Stones helped Metallica to get back up again. In 2004, the band went through the worst, with the members reaching their breaking points.

At that time, they disappeared for a year and had a real break.

The Rolling Stones soon called them and asked them to play some shows with them in California. As they could not say no to the legendary band, Metallica took the spotlight again.
