The word "rich" is literally in their name.

Lionel Richie's youngest daughter, Sofia Richie, tied the knot in France over the weekend, and given that they are on the bride's side, they must have shelled out a generous sum to make it happen.

Exactly how rich are the Richies?

As per reports, the iconic singer-songwriter's estimated net worth is around $200 million, with his primary income coming from his music career.

Richie rose to prominence in the 1970s as a lead singer of the Commodores, a group from the iconic record label, Motown.

During his time with the Commodores, they released these hit singles: "Easy," "Three Times a Lady," "Still," and "Sail On."

He eventually forged his path as a solo artist and began producing more chart-topping hits like "Endless Love," which he sang in a duet with Diana Ross, "Truly," "My Love," and "You Are."

These days, Richie is a judge on "American Idol," a position he has held on since the show's 16th season, which aired back in 2018.

Lavish Wedding

According to reports, his daughter married into a family that is considered royalty in the music industry, the Grainges.

Perhaps this has helped the Richies ease up a little on the expenses of the wedding, especially since the groom's side is quite wealthy as well.

By all accounts, this wedding was huge, it was also well-attended by some of Hollywood's biggest stars; It must have cost them a pretty penny.

As per People magazine, these stars were spotted at the wedding: Lionel Richie, Nicole Richie--of course-as well as Cameron Diaz, Paris Hilton, and more.

Richie also wore three chic Chanel wedding dresses.

Who is Elliot Grainge?

The Richies are one of the biggest household names in music, so there's no surprise that their ties are extensive.

According to Page Six, Richie's daughter and Grainge started dating after the former's short fling with Matthew Morton, in October 2020, ended. Morton is the son of restaurateur, Peter Morton.

He is the son of Universal Music Group CEO Lucian Grainge, but he has launched his own label, 10K Projects.

Around this time last year, April 2022, Grainge proposed to Richie.

Richie shared a picture of the couple's engagement, and captioned it "Forever isn't long enough," and tagged Grainge.
