After dominating the UK Albums Chart, Metallica also ruled the recently released Billboard 200 chart.

Metallica released the follow-up to "Hardwired... To Self-Destruct" after seven years. The 12-track album has also been called the "most friction-free record" the band ever released.

Metallica Scores No. 2 Spot on Billboard Album Chart

Billboard released its latest Billboard 200 ranking and confirmed that the band's "72 Seasons" album secured the No. 2 spot. The music project is behind Morgan Wallen's "One Thing at a Time," which has been in the same spot for the seventh week.

Metallica's "72 Seasons" landed at the position after selling 146,000 equivalent album units in its first week of release. The feat became the band's 12th Top-10 charting album.

Of the recorded units, 134,000 was album sales; 11,500 was SEA units; and 500 TEA units.

The number made "72 Seasons" the biggest week for any rock or hard rock album in nearly four years since TOOL's "Fear Inoculum" in September 2019.

Aside from Billboard, the Official Charts Company hailed Metallica's album on the top spot of the UK Albums Chart - becoming its fourth album to top the chart after "Metallica," "Load," and "Death Magnetic."

Metallica's "72 Seasons" To Be Heard During Band's World Tour

Amid the album's success, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich told Masa Ito of TVK's Rock City that "72 Seasons" officially became the most friction-free record they ever created.

"This record we made, I think, without any arguments," he said. "Nobody was shouting or yelling or doing anything crazy. There was no posturing or 'my way' - it was basically nothing of that."
