Ever since the news about Joe Alwyn and Taylor Swift breaking up, Swifties have turned to her music for comfort.
Specifically, they've turned to "Lover," which was one of Swift's albums that has perfectly encapsulated her relationship with Alwyn for a lot of reasons.
Taylor Swift 'Lover' Surged To Top 9 on Billboard 200
Because of the streaming surge that "Lover" had over the past week, in a shocking turn of events, it ranked No. 9 on the Billboard 200 charts three years since it was released.
According to a Billboard report, "Lover" placed No. 9 on the charts after landing at No. 12 the week before. Since Taylor Swift's "The Eras" tour, the album has bumped several places on the Top 40.
From No. 35, it catapulted to No. 13, falling to No. 16 a week after, climbing to No. 15, ascending to No. 12, and now, at No. 9.
Luminate crunched the numbers and shows that "Lover" has amassed 34,000 album equivalent units from its recent climb to the top.
In February 2020, the album debuted a total of 867,000 album-equivalent units. Just from its first day alone, it already sold 450,000 copies. 78% of the total units were pure album sales.

Notably, the album outsold all 199 albums on the Billboard 200 albums chart combined, making it one of Swift's record-setting albums so far. All 18 tracks of the album debuted on the Hot 100 charts.
According to a People Magazine report, seven songs from "Lover" were speculated to be dedicated to Alwyn by Swift.
Among these songs are the title track "Lover," the hit song "Cruel Summer," "I Think He Knows," "Paper Rings," the seemingly obvious "London Boy," "Daylight," and the hauntingly beautiful "Cornelia Street."

Meanwhile, Swift has been busy on her "Eras" tour while Alwyn is filming "The Brutalist" in Europe.
