Meghan Trainor Diagnosed With PTSD After Giving Birth

Trainor's first book, which will be released on April 25, explores the "TMI guide" for moms, including birth, pregnancy, and new motherhood.

After delivering her first child, Riley was admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit due to breathing issues and stayed for several days before he was discharged. She was reportedly left alone on the surgical table when Sabara had to accompany Riley to the NICU.

"In the moment, I was so drugged up, I was calling my mom, and she's crying on the phone, like, 'Are you okay?' And I was like, 'We're fine,'" she said. "And then when I tell people what happened, they're like, 'Jesus Christ,' and I'm like, 'Yeah, that was kind of messed up, right?'"

Unfortunately, Trainor also brought PTSD after going home and she had dreams about her trauma. She also recalled still feeling like she was still on the operating table although she was already home.

Meghan Trainor Starts Working on Her Trauma

After spending countless nights crying, Trainor began her therapy to recover from it. Her therapist reportedly told her that the chemical reactions made her feel the pain from the birth, although it was no longer there.

As part of the therapy, they had to "open the trauma to heal the wound."

In the same book, Trainor expressed her gratitude that she was able to overcome her struggles, making her believe that time, indeed, heals all.

Trainor and Sabara are currently expecting their second baby. The "All About That Bass" hitmaker told People that they try to tell Riley about his sibling, whom he already refers to as "baby."

Trainor also spoke about how her second pregnancy is different from her first since she had no symptoms when she was carrying Riley.
