Fans and executives of the music industry is alarmed by artificial intelligence as songs are spreading across the internet featuring vocals of musicians that were fully generated by technology. As many artists speak out against the matter, Grimes actually approves and even encourages fans to use it in her music.

The musician, who's popularly known for her experimental electronic music, took to her official Twitter account to share a screenshot of an article published by The New York Times featuring Drake and The Weeknd's AI song that "rattled the music world."

The track, titled "Heart on My Sleeve," reportedly had millions of streams before it was taken down on major music platforms like Spotify and more.

Grimes Will Give 50% Royalties to Fans Who Can Generate Her Voice Successfully

Despite many people calling out the recent use of technology to generate songs using vocals from different artists without their permission, Grimes appears to be okay with artificial intelligence as she told her followers that whoever generates her voice in a song successfully, she will split 50% on royalties.

"I'll split 50% royalties on any successful AI generated song that uses my voice," she wrote, adding that her deal is also applicable to any artist that she collaborated with.

Grimes further explained that she is not under any record label and legal bindings, that's why using her voice will not have any penalty.

"I think it's cool to be fused w a machine and I like the idea of open sourcing all art and killing copyright," she added.

AI Music: Other Artists Dislikes the Rise of Technology

Unlike Grimes, many artists are are calling out the wide use of artificial intelligence in music.

Khalid recently spoke to a news outlet, saying he has "mixed feelings" about the technology as it's a helpful tool, but it's also "one of those things that you can't escape."

"Hopefully, you know, I get to still have my job for a long time," he added. (via Complex)

When asked if he wanted to use AI in his music, the singer explained that feels like it would take the authenticity out of his project and it's something that he values about himself.

Regarding the use of AI to generate voices to be used in songs of late artists, Khalid also disagrees as he "appreciate the legends as they are."
