David Coverdale expressed his desire to resume Whitesnake's farewell tour in 2024, but his health might still affect the schedule.

Whitesnake's farewell tour has not been as smooth-sailing as fans hope for since Coverdale started having health issues in the past months. His struggles already led to the cancelation of the band's European, US, and Canadian tour dates.

While the resumption remains uncertain, Coverdale talked about how he would love to continue the farewell tour by next year.

David Coverdale's Health Will Determine Whitesnake's Farewell Tour Status

Coverdale appeared on the April 24 episode of "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" and spoke about the band's decision to cancel its European shows and postpone its scheduled appearance with Scorpions. The decision was made to allow Coverdale to recuperate and receive treatment for his persistent upper respiratory infection.

According to the musician, he would love to see Whitesnake resume its farewell tour in 2024. He also revealed that he has been receiving invitations to perform in Japan, but he could not accept any of those since he has to be physically okay before doing so.

He noted that his health issues already affected the band in every way.

"I literally flew home July the 4th, and it took all that time to actually - and an assortment of the worst antibiotics, I think, I've ever had to take, coupled with prednisone, which I don't recommend to anyone," he said. "That's big-fat-face stuff - steroids. So, yeah, it was very challenging in every way, shape and form for a long time."

David Coverdale Wants To End Whitesnake's Touring Career in a Better Way

While his health issues affect Whitesnake's farewell tour, Coverdale also shared how he would love to "put a button" on the band's touring career in a different way.

He revealed that they still have years' worth of projects to do. Still, what Whitesnake will do in the future will be dictated by his health.

Coverdale has been enduring different health issues in the past years aside from his respiratory illness.

In 2017, he was diagnosed with degenerative arthritis, which caused him to have both his knees replaced with titanium. He revealed that this issue caused him to affect his ability to perform live since he was in so much pain due to arthritis.

Coverdale is also yet to recover from his torn rotator cuff, which he sustained after years of throwing his mic stand around during his performances.
