Kesha New Album: 'Gag Order'

Kesha, whose real name is Kesha Rose Sebert, has been through a lot over the past few years and her upcoming record will be her most vulnerable one compared to her previous releases.

Produced by Rick Rubin, the upcoming project was described as "post-pop" and "emotional exorcism." It will feature songs that revolves around the topic of empowerment, self-discovery, and acceptance.

In an album manifesto for Nylon Magazine, the "Crazy Kids" hitmaker wrote, "Without the darkness there is no light... So I let my darkness have the light. I can't fight the truth. Life is difficult and painful. It is for everyone."

Kesha further explained that an artist doesn't exist to make the public happy, but rather to give voice, color, and motion to the emotions that humans have.

Both emotional sides will also be tackled, even the "unmanageable f****** miserable ones."

Kesha New Album 2023: How Was it Created?

Elsewhere in the manifesto, the musician revealed that when her album was released before the pandemic, she went into quarantine "feeling very lost" as she couldn't perform for her fans.

Since she couldn't do much at the time, she was able to write and record a brand new album and it "hit a wall as soon as it entered the world."

In her own words, Kesha said she wanted to create an album that sounds like what she feels inside her head: "dipping in and out of depression. Gratitude, rage, and hope. Always moving."

She concluded her manifesto by hoping that her upcoming album connects to the people who need it as it has been "handcrafted" with transparency and care.
