With an incomparable musical career of over 40 years, one might have difficulty deciding which album is their favorite from the likes of the legendary musician Bruce Springsteen.

In an upcoming interview with CBS "Sunday Morning" set to air on Sunday Bruce Springsteen pinpointed his most definitive work as "Nebraska"-his sixth studio album from 1982.

This LP was much sparer and more personal than the E Street Band expected; it featured only simple demos that Springsteen had recorded to guide the rock album they intended to create.

Unburdened by embellishments, the rock star shared a suite of stark story songs about his inner-world characters: serial killers in "Nebraska," conflicted cops in "Highway Patrolman," and those stuck in a continuous loop of despair as seen with "Johnny 99".

Explaining why he chose "Nebraska" to be his most definitive album, the Boss told Jim Axelrod, "I think in your 20s, a lot of things work for you. But in your 30s, your 30s is where you be - where you start to become an adult."

"And suddenly I looked around and said, 'Where is everything? Where is my home? Where is my partner? Where are the sons and daughters that I thought I might have someday?"

41 years ago, the "Dancing In The Dark" singer sought solace and a sense of purpose in recording his hit album - all alone in a farmhouse in Colts Neck, New Jersey. At that point, his rock and roll dream had come true, yet something was still missing from his life.

Bruce added, "I realized none of those things are there, none of them."

"So I said, 'OK, the first thing I've gotta do as soon as I get home is remind myself of who I am and where I came from... and what I want to do... And where I'm going."

As highlighted in Warren Zanes' new book "Deliver Me From Nowhere," the harsh realities of "Nebraska" are brought to light. The book provides insight into the stark living conditions of this state and brings attention to its struggles.
