"American Idol" fans have expressed shock and disgust after catching sight of an unexpected guest at the judge's table alongside pop star singer Katy Perry.

The suspicious character was none other than a fly.

This week, viewers were introduced to this season's top 12 contestants on "American Idol."

At Monday night's live show, however, not only these hopefuls made an appearance - a giant fly also caused quite a stir!

At the show's end, Luke Bryan took to Twitter and posted a video that showed an unwelcome guest.

A fly hovered around the table where Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke were seated while they judged talent; it even came close to the "Dark Horse" singer's nameplate, which sat near a cup of forgotten leftovers.

In response to this intruder, Lionel Richie waved his fist at it in greeting - causing Katy to let out a loud shriek.

"Eww!" one voice said in disgust.

The other chorused: "Gross! A fly on Katy's plate!"

A third person then offered their opinion, pointing the finger at Katy: "It's all her fault; she's always snacking and drinking."

Throughout the season, many have criticized and disparaged the behavior of Katy Perry.

In particular, many have accused her of "mom-shaming" a fellow contestant. Yet, viewers seem tired of all "American Idol" judges; on Reddit's dedicated "American Idol" thread, users begged for new faces at the judging table.

A post on the site caught the attention of many, suggesting that it was time for a change, given all the terrible choices made by judges.

According to this fan, these people gave unwarranted praise and showed no understanding of true excellence.

Agreeing with this sentiment, another user wrote: "New producers and judges. They're obviously told they can't criticize anyone." A chorus of users quickly joined in and supported this opinion.

Discontented with the task the "California Girls" singer is tackling on "American Idol," some fans have voiced their opinion online by urging the show to replace her.

They even went as far as to suggest having former "The Voice" star Pink, 43, sit at the judges' table.

One person, in particular, made a point: "At this point, I wouldn't even mention them [Katy and her fellow judges] as judges anymore since they're not really judging performances."

In 2016, Pink was invited to be a superstar adviser on a singing competition show. On an online forum, fans suggested that Pink could make an excellent addition to replace her co-star Luke and Katy as they "need to go."

In response to Luke Bryan's initial announcement about joining the "American Idol" judging panel, some viewers have called for the comeback of Harry Connick Jr.
