The annual MET Gala Ball is one of the most awaited events in the entertainment and fashion industry. Pegged as an important charity event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the fashion expo is attended by the most important people in the entertainment and music industry.
Over the years, the star-studded celebrity outing has been attended by some of the biggest names in music. However, for the MET Gala 2023, some of these biggest names were seemingly absent from the gathering.
Harry Styles
The Grammy-winning singer was one of the missed artists in the annual fashion event. The last time he attended was in 2019 with the theme "Camp: Notes in Fashion," where he was dressed by Italian designer Alessandro Michele. Styles was last spotted with Will Ferell and James Corden on the latter's last episode of "The Late Late Show With James Corden" last Thursday, Apr. 27, 2023.
Katy Perry
Katy Perry is in between live shows for "American Idol" with Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, and that might be the reason why she was not present this year. Notably, the "Roar" singer was present last year at the ball. She wore a lacy Moschino chandelier dress back then.
Beyonce
The last time Beyonce attended was at 2016's MET Gala, "Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology." Wearing a Givenchy flesh-tone gown, Beyonce looked stunning at the time. However, she missed out on the future Galas that came after, including this year. Her absence could be because she was preparing for her upcoming "Renaissance" tour in Stockholm, Sweden, on May 10, 2023.
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo
Vera Wang dressed Ariana Grande in 2018 for the MET Gala "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination," where she last attended the event. As for Cynthia Erivo, she attended last year's Gilded Glamour MET Gala with a Louis Vuitton ensemble. Both singers are in the United Kingdom shooting "Wicked," where they will be playing as Glinda and Elphaba, respectively.

Zendaya
Like Styles, the last time Zendaya attended the event was in 2019, where she was famously dressed by Law Roach as Cinderella. Zendaya has been hailed as one of the most fashionable celebrities recently, so her missing the 2023 MET Gala is a sad day.
Nicki Minaj
Arriving last year with Burberry and dressed by Riccardo Tisci, the Queen of Rap is seemingly missing from this year's outing. The rap royalty has been a frequent attendee of the charity event, and considering her close relationship with Karl Lagerfeld, Minaj's attendance is truly missed.
Taylor Swift
We all know where Taylor Swift is - she just finished a three-day concert in Atlanta, Georgia, over the weekend, so expecting her to grace the MET Gala might be too much for the "music industry." Swift's presence has been missed at the Gala since she last attended in 2016 in a custom Louis Vuitton outfit.
