One of the judges on the hit show "America Idol," Luke Bryan, was initially doubtful about his co-host Lionel Richie.

However, after Lionel made a special appearance during an episode in front of royalty, Luke humbly admitted that his apprehensions were no more.

As Sunday's show commenced, the contestants and audience were in for an unexpected treat from Luke.

Lionel and Katy Perry made a special appearance from London to mark King Charles III's coronation concert.

His presence alongside Katy brought an extra unique element to the show, considering she had also performed at this momentous event. From Windsor Castle, they checked in with "Idol" live!

Before the show, Luke expected to reunite with his "American Idol" co-judges; however, he was floored when King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla tuned in for the ABC presentation.

The royal couple addressed Idol fans alongside Lionel and Katy, leaving Luke astounded.

This shocked the country superstar, telling People magazine, "It just shows you the scope and power of who Lionel Richie [is]. When you think about when Lionel wrote and performed 'We Are the World,' that put him in a situation where he wrote a song for the world."

Subsequently, Luke mentioned how Lionel made numerous visits to meet essential world leaders and said his efforts were rewarded when he achieved a strong rapport with King Charles, thus enabling him to invite the monarch to appear among his peers.

He added, "I always felt Lionel was maybe lying and fibbing a little bit about his relationship with all the royals but I gotta say he's telling the truth now."

Sunday's show was extraordinary due to two noteworthy guest stars.

Legendary artist Alanis Morissette, 48, graced the stage as a substitute for Katy Perry in her absence. Additionally, 32-year-old singer Ed Sheeran treated viewers with renditions of his iconic songs alongside the remaining contestants.

As Alanis and Ed held center stage, it was announced that they would act as mentors and judges for upcoming contestants. Afterward, both singers took to their performances, with Alanis playing a familiar song while Ed premiered an unreleased single.

Because of the guests, one person suggested that Luke Bryan, Ed Sheeran, and Alanis should be kept as the permanent judges for American Idol. "Best judges," one person tweeted.

One follower of the show declared Alanis a "great permanent choice."

Further praise went to Ed, who seemed to be having fun judging, with someone noting that he is a charming guy.
