In the past few years, Mars has been dropping hints regarding his solo album making. Although the updates are on and off, his collaborators frequently share the status of their works with the guitarist.

Mick Mars Poses With Ash Avildsen

Talks about Mars finally dropping his solo album reignited when Sumerian Records founder Ash Avildsen shared photos of him with Mars taken at the musician's Nashville, Tennessee home.

Avildsen posted the snaps on his Instagram on Tuesday, saying, "landed on mars. It's as real as it gets. #teammick #mickmars #motleycrue #livinglegend."

While the rock label founder did not reveal further details about their meeting, fans started speculating that Mars might drop his solo project through his label. Although the guitarist himself has not released a new update regarding his music project, other musicians spoke candidly about their collaborations with him.

In April 2022, Paul Taylor told the "Sonic Dorms" podcast that he spent the last couple of years working on Mars' highly-anticipated solo album. At that time, he also applauded the guitarist's skills both as a musician and a songwriter.

Taylor added that he worked with Jacob Bunton for Mars' solo album.

Meanwhile, Bunton himself told AL.com three years ago that he served as the lead singer of Mars' solo project. He also revealed that Michael Wagener produced the material, a choice the guitarist made since he was the first producer he worked with in Motley Crue.

He then commented on the solo CD, praising the songs for being "cool" and hinting that they would be what people have been expecting to hear.

About Mick Mars' Solo Album

Amid the lack of updates, Mars previously opened up about his solo material in an interview with Billboard in September 2019. At that time, he told the magazine that it would not be like today's music.

"It's all cool and it's all good, and I'm just searching for something that's just a little different than that. I [also] don't want to be living in '85," he went on. "It's hard to reinvent yourself, but that's what I'm doing now. I'm trying to reinvent the way that I approach music writing."

The guitarist has not commented on the album yet, but he is expected to spend most of his time on his solo album as he battles with his former Motley Crue bandmates after they allegedly gaslighted him and kicked him out of the group.
