Pop Smoke's death in 2020 was perhaps one of the most devastating losses in recent hip-hop history. With much promise and talent, the young rapper spearheaded the rise of drill rap in Brooklyn, New York.

Three years later, the people who were charged with his murder finally admitted to their crimes.

Pop Smoke Murderer Admits His Crimes

According to a City News Service report, the real killer of Pop Smoke, an 18-year-old man, admitted to a juvenile court that he killed the burgeoning rap artist in a home-invasion robbery back in 2020.

According to the publication, the killer was 15 years old at the time when the crime was committed. He also admitted that he "personally and intentionally" discharged a firearm during the commission of the crime. He also admitted to a home-invasion robbery count.

To date, the man's real identity could not be revealed because he was tried in juvenile court. He will remain in a juvenile facility until he turns 25 and be transferred to an adult jail along with the two other suspects.

"That man lost his life over no good reason ... You have no right to take somebody's life. You have no right to take somebody's property," Judge Christopher Smith told the killer.

Pop Smoke's Other Killer

Meanwhile, the other person who was charged with the death of Pop Smoke, Corey Walker, was 19 at the time of the crime. He was the only person tried in an adult court because of his age.

As he awaits his pretrial in Los Angeles, he was charged with robbery, burglary, and murder. (via Billboard)

Walker's legal team initially argued that he was not inside the home when Pop Smoke was killed but was instead outside. However, a report debunked this as he initially scouted the rapper's apartment prior to the crime.

Pop Smoke was fatally shot dead in his rental apartment in Los Angeles. A 911 distress call alerted police and firefighters that a home was broken into. Minutes later Pop Smoke's body was found lifeless. He was pronounced dead at Cedars-Sinai Hospital after.

Five months later, the four suspects were taken to jail. The day before his death, the rapper seemed to have disclosed his whereabouts on social media as he posted photos.
