50 Cent and G-Unit reunited earlier this year and released their comeback EP, The Beauty of Independence, to everyone's surprise following the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night.

Interestingly, the album's title can actually be a literal description of what brought 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo, Young Buck, and newcomer Kidd Kidd back together.

"The timing surrounding me actually having my independence, at the same time moving away from Interscope," 50 Cent said in an interview with MTV's Rob Markman on SiriusXM's Shade45. "And I look around and I say if there is a time to do it, it would be now."

Fif went on to explain why the group has separated.

"We didn't have one of those situations where people were off. A lot of times when you see a group together, it's separated on different terms," he explained. "It's more me, conditioning them for something that wasn't healthy for me. It went on, it went on until each one of the situations kinda took its own path, and then we had our little differences."

Banks said that after the group separated, he knew it wouldn't be forever.

"I always felt like we would be back together and doing music," Banks said. "That was the most important part to me. All the other things that helped break sh*t up, I didn't participate in."

Banks elaborated on this point, saying, "Most of the time it's due to lack of communication. Me and Yayo always remained talking, and I just had a chance to speak with Buck and we never stopped talking when we actually did get in contact."

Young Buck also spoke about his and Fif's reconciled feud.

"He was hurt, as well as I was," he said. "Knowing that, I felt there was always room for [reconciliation]."
