The Writer's Guild of America has been on the picket protesting for a fair share. They are demanding a new contract with fair pay for all writers in the ever-changing era of streaming. Since taking a stand, several actors, celebrities, and even musicians have expressed their solidarity with the embattled union.

Very recently, the Rock band Weezer joined the lines and performed a surprising acoustic rendition in front of the picketers.

Writers who were in protest last May 18, 2023, in front of the Paramount Pictures lot in Los Angeles were surprised to see the multi-platinum band joining their ranks.

The band, composed of Rivers Cuomo, Scott Shriner, and Brian Bell sang in front of the protesting writers to delight their day with some entertainment. They performed two of their most popular songs - "Buddy Holly" and "Beverly Hills."

Fans were delighted to see the band perform at the gates.

"I can't believe I missed this while continuing to walk around the Bronson gate. I was like, Where did everyone go?" a fan shared.

"i'm so sad i missed this! thanks for supporting us, Weezer! #WGAstrong #unionstrong," another thanked the band.

In the past week, Imagine Dragons also performed two of their songs in front of the Netflix lot in Los Angeles.

Speaking to TMZ, Imagine Dragons vocalist Dan Reynolds voiced out his frustrations and echoed the striking writers' demands.

"We just want fair compensation for people who put in the time and are incredible creators. We have many friends who are writers. The writers are the ones who make all of the magic happen. My greatest joy comes from these people - the writers," he exclaimed.

Late Night shows have been in the dark since the strike took place. Music in television is at a standstill except for the finale episodes of "The Voice," "American Idol," and "The Masked Singer."

The likes of Netflix, Hulu, Disney Plus, and Paramount are riddled with controversy as they withhold the writers of a negotiation for a fair contract. Two of the major sticking points were the increase in residuals and the ban on using artificial intelligence in screenwriting.
