Busta Rhymes Bio 

Trevor Smith, Jr., otherwise known professionally as Busta Rhymes, was born on May 20, 1972 in Brooklyn, New York. The lyrics of Busta's songs have been prominent for depicting halting and ragga-inspired style and lyrics, combined with complexity, inventiveness, and a sense of humor, as per Allmusic.com. Busta began to professionally explore the music business while he was attending school at the Uniondale High School in 1983 as a teen. 

How Busta Rhymes Started His Career in Music

At Uniondale High School, Busta met with MC's Charlie Brown, Dinco D., and Cut Monitor Milo. The group formed having been inspired with co-Long Islanders, Public Enemy and Eric B. & Rakim. The men called their band Leaders of the New School. Leaders signed on a record deal with Elektra records when Busta was only 17. Leaders of the New School released two albums called "Future Without a Past" (1991) and "T.I.M.E." (1993), before disbanding the next year. 

Busta Rhymes Accomplishments in the Music Scene 

After the disbandment of Leaders, Busta went on to pursue a solo career in music. He signed on a solo record contract with Elektra records not too long after Leaders of the New School disbanded. Busta's debut album as a solo artist, "The Coming" was a hit. The single off this album, "Woo-Hah!!! Got You All in Check" reached the top ten of the chart, and was certified gold based on its number of copies sold. 

How is Busta Rhymes Connected to Janet Jackson? 

On May 9, Tuesday, Busta made a surprise appearance in Janet Jackson's "Together Again" concert tour in New York's Madison Square Garden. As per the report in an article on Marca.com, Busta nearly crashed his car after being taken aback with excitement 25 years ago, after he heard Janet mentioned in a radio interview while he was driving that Busta was the rapper she would like to work with at the time.
