The creators of Bob Dylan's biopic welcomed the Marvel Cinematic Universe star Benedict Cumberbatch onboard.

The upcoming biopic, "A Complete Unknown," has been in the works for years, with Timothy Chalamet as the constant actor tied to play the musician's role. Amid the creation of the upcoming flick - which was previously titled "Going Electric" - it tapped Cumberbatch to play Pete Seeger's role.

Bob Dylan's Biopic Welcomes Benedict Cumberbatch to List of Cast Members

Director James Mangold delivered the exciting news about Cumberbatch's casting at the Cannes Film Festival.

As reported by Deadline, the "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" filmmaker confirmed that the "Doctor Strange" actor would portray the folk legend's role in the biopic. Cumberbatch became the latest addition to the cast list after Joan Baez and Elle Fanning's casting.

Although no further details have been provided as of press time, Cumberbatch is expected to take long screentime in the biopic as Seeger played a huge role in guiding Dylan from landing a record contract to inviting him to Newport Folk Festival.

Dylan's "A Complete Unknown" is based on Elijah Wald's book, "Dylan Goes Electric," which was published in 2015.

Mangold previously expressed his excitement to work on the biopic, saying that Dylan's life has interesting story and moment.

"It's such an amazing time in American culture and the story of a young, 19-year-old Bob Dylan coming to New York with like two dollars in his pocket and becoming a worldwide sensation within three years," he went on. "First being embraced into the family of folk music in New York and then, of course, kind of outrunning them at a certain point as his star rises so beyond belief."

Bob Dylan Biopic Update: Timothee Chalamet Will Not Lip-sync

Most biopics have their main stars sing to make the story more intimate and touching. The same will be applied to "A Complete Unknown," Mangold told Collider.

The director said the actor would not lip-sync; thus, Chalamet has been practicing his singing skills and playing guitar, piano, and other instruments.

While Chalamet has become a well-known actor, he previously showed off his vocals when he performed Chet Baker's "Everything Happens to Me" in "Woody Allen's 'A Rainy Day in New York" in 2019.

He reportedly sang in seven songs for the upcoming "Wonka" prequel, according to reports.
