Kellie Pickler, a renowned singer in the world of county music, was devastated by the unexpected suicide of her husband, Kyle Jacobs.

Sources confirmed that Jacobs had been facing a severe drinking problem which Kellie had been unaware of.

In February, it was reported that his body had been found at their Tennessee home from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

When Kellie awoke that morning, she noticed her husband was missing. She and her assistant attempted to open the door to an upstairs bedroom/office but could not.

With no other recourse, they called 911 for assistance.

According to a representative from the police department, Kellie had been asleep inside that same home when the events occurred.

The day after Kyle's death, a medical examiner conducted an autopsy of the 49-year-old's body. The results indicated that his body had been affected by long-term alcohol consumption.

The paper documented an unfortunate incident of a white adult male with prior pseudoseizures, intestinal hemorrhaging, high liver enzymes, and a long-term alcohol habit.

Unfortunately, he shot himself in the head.

Upon further examination, it was determined that a bullet had been lodged in his brain.

Another piece of lead with a copper-coated projectile was also found in his body bag alongside a small fragment.

At autopsy, it was concluded that death resulted from an intraoral shotgun wound, and no drugs were detected in his system.

It is no secret that Kellie Pickler understood her partner's fondness for champagne and whiskey.

Unfortunately, she was unaware of his despair and darker habits, such as heavy drinking and suicidal thoughts, a source told Radar Online.

The shock of this tragedy has left Kellie in an incredibly fragile state; relinquishing her role at Sirius XM's "The Highway," she has spent much of her time simply talking with friends or breaking down in tears since then.

The source added there is little doubt that Kellie Pickler feels she has lost the love of her life. Her friends have reportedly been understandingly supportive by providing her companionship during these difficult days.

It was love at first sight for Kellie Pickler when she met Kyle Jacobs in 2008.

Two years later, the besotted couple decided to get engaged and forsake their original plans of a big wedding ceremony.

Instead, they chose to elope in Antigua on New Year's Day 2011.
