Tina Turner is one of the biggest music icons in history. Her impact on rock music and the music industry can be felt in today's generation of artists despite her rising to fame six decades ago.

Turner passed away at 83 years old on May 24, 2023, after a long battle with various illnesses - varying from kidney failure, high blood pressure, and even intestinal cancer, among many others.

Months before her passing, Turner gave an interview with the British outlet The Sun, which also officially became her last media interview ever.

Tina Turner Last Interview Before Death

The "Proud Mary" singer graced The Sun for an interview about the West End jukebox musical dedicated to her, "TINA: The Tina Turner Musical."

Per Turner, she battled hard to be the first black female solo rock artist to fill stadiums. Notably, the female icon was part of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue before embarking on her solo career after her infamous divorce from her husband, Ike Sr.

Since then, Tina Turner has been hailed as the Queen of Rock and Roll, opposite Elvis Presley's King of Rock and Roll.

Up until her final days, Turner has been very vocal about inspiring future generations of women in music.

"I am proud to have played a part in clearing that path for women of the next generation - and the next," she told the outlet.

A number of artists have already expressed their tributes to the late music icon. Beyonce performed a cover of "River Deep Mountain High" on her recent Renaissance Tour stop in Paris. Lizzo danced her iconic "Proud Mary" choreography on her Arizona stop for the Special Tour. Even Hayley Williams sang "What's Love Got To Do" in a performance.

Turner even joked at one point in the interview, taking a jab at everyone's fascination with her "precious legs."

"I only had my legs on show so much as it made it much easier to dance . . . and then it became part of my style," she quipped. "When I was younger I never felt confident about any part of my body, but with all the attention my legs received, I realised they must be OK."
