Uncle Kracker Bio 

Born Matthew Lynford Shafer in Mount Clemens, Michigan, on June 6, 1974, Uncle Kracker got his stage name "Kracker" from fellow musician, Kid Rock, when the former was only 13 years old. Kracker's father owned a gas station, where the singer worked until he was 21 years old. 

Kracker reportedly married his high school sweetheart, Melanie, in Las Vegas. Together, the couple has three children, as per ImdB. 

How Uncle Kracker Started His Music Career 

Kid Rock and Uncle Kracker met in 1987 in Clawson, Michigan. At the time the two men met, Rock was a contestant in a DJ contest at a night club called Daytona's. Shared interests in music tastes eventually led Kid Rock and Uncle Kracker to quickly become friends.

Uncle Kracker was a DJ for Kid Rock since 1994, right prior to releasing his debut album, ""Double Wide" in 2001. Both Kid Rock and Kracker adhered to music that's a combination of funky, post-grunge rock, and hip hop creatives. The hit single, "Follow Me" is one of the songs in Kracker's debut album.

Uncle Kracker's Hits 

"Double Wide" was released by Lava records, and was produced by Kid Rock and Mike Bradford. "Double Wide" is known to have infused a mix of elements of country, mainstream modern rock, and rap. A year after Uncle Kracker's debut album's release, the "Smile" singer released his sophomore album, "No Stranger to Shame," as per All Music. "Double Wide" was certified double platinum, and landed on the top ten chart. 

Uncle Kracker's New Single 2023 

As per his announcement on his official Twitter account on May 26, Uncle Kracker has an upcoming new single for 2023 called "Sweet 16", to drop on June 9th.
