It's been three years since Pearl Jam last released a new album and many fans have been waiting for the legendary rockers to drop their next project.

It appears that supporters will get new music anytime soon as guitarist Stone Gossard gave a hint on what their new record would sound like and it's not what fans have been expecting; are they switching genres?

The record will be produced by Andrew Watt, popularly known for collaborating with major artists in the past like Iggy Pop, Elton John, Ozzy Osbourne, and many more.

Now, he's set to work with the group on their new album and it doesn't sound anything like they did in the past.

Pearl Jam Switching to Pop Music?

Stone Gossard recently spoke with Consequence to give fans an insight into the band's upcoming album, saying they have been recording for a year now.

The musician did not give much information about the release date and title of the album, but he assured supporters that it's "getting closer and closer," adding, "it's gonna be a good one."

Speaking about working with Andrew Watt, the guitarist revealed that the producer is a "hardcore" Pearl Jam fan that could play all of their songs better than them.

He also noted that Watt is "so enthusiastic" about the whole project and he was "energizing" the group members.

Without spilling any secrets about what the album would sound like, Gossard gave a hint that the band might have pop songs due to their new producer.

"He's a fan club member. He's f****** seen the band 50 times. But he is also literally a top-flight pop producer," he added.
