The 2023 Tony Awards are days away, and the lineup for its performers has finally been unveiled. The lineup announcement came with certainty despite the uncertainty on what the show would look like considering that everything will be "unscripted" this year because of the ongoing WGA strike.

The Tony Awards were almost put into hold again this year as the Writers Guild of America and the Tony Awards Management Committee came together at a compromise in holding the televised ceremony amid the ongoing television writers' strike.

2023 Tony Awards Performers

According to Playbill, all Best Musical and Best Revival of a Musical nominees were included in the lineup, which meant that we would finally see live TV performances from the said musicals.

Best Musical nominees include "& Juliet," "Kimberly Akimbo," "New York, New York," "Shucked," and "Some Like It Hot." Best Revival Musicals are also part of the program, including "Camelot," "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street," "Into the Woods," and "Parade."

However, this season's musicals weren't the only ones being given a highlight. The publication also noted that despite not being nominated this year, "A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical" will be given a chance to perform. Notably, the jukebox musical was not nominated for any award this year, to many fans' shock and dismay.

Aside from "A Beautiful Noise," "Funny Girl" will also be given a spot in the ceremony.

'Funny Girl', Lea Michele on 2023 Tony Awards

We all know the drama around "Funny Girl" and the casting ruckus between Beanie Feldstein and Lea Michele last year. Now that the production is one of the primary drivers of Box Office on Broadway, after a year of negative reviews, the company has been given a chance to perform.

Despite one of the biggest productions ever, "Funny Girl" only scored one nomination last year, a Best Supporting Actor in a Musical nomination for Jared Grimes, which he did not even win. Now, Lea Michele will take the lead in the performance as Fanny Brice.

Because it was not nominated for Best Revival last year, the production was not able to perform at the broadcast.

Meanwhile, Best Actress in a Musical winner Joanna Kalukango will be returning to the stage this year for a special performance in honoring 2023 Lifetime Achievement Tony Award honorees Joel Grey and John Kander.

The 2023 Tony Awards will be on Jun. 11, 2023, at the United Palace Theatre in Washington Heights, New York, and will be hosted by Ariana DeBose. As of this writing, no instructions were given amid the ongoing Canada wildfire haze that has enveloped New York.
