Lorde felt sentimental as she celebrated the sixth anniversary of her sophomore studio album, "Melodrama"; the singer shared a series of behind-the-scenes and in-the-making pictures on Instagram.

"Apparently Melodrama is 6," the "Solar Power" singer wrote. She shared a series of pictures of herself at a younger age, one was in a recording studio.

During that time, Lorde spent her days in New York City, along with Jack Antonoff, the album's producer; she stayed at the Park Hyatt Hotel, which she described as "an extremely expensive hotel," noting that most of her album advance was spent to cover its bill.

Lorde's 'Melodrama'

"Melodrama" was released in June 2017; its themes circle around Lorde's feelings as a rising new female artist grappling with her first heartbreak.

It produced the singles "Green Light," "Perfect Places," and "Homemade Dynamite"; as well as the "Melodrama" world tour which spanned from 2017 to 2018.

Lorde's second masterpiece cemented her in music history. It received gold and platinum certifications, and topped the music charts in the United States, Canada, Australia, and her home country New Zealand.

Before receiving massive success, however, Lorde admitted through her Instagram Stories that she felt extreme anxiety during the entire process.

"Lost of dynamic lyric writing sessions such as this," she wrote on a picture of herself with a laptop in a bathtub. "I was so anxious all the time, my heart was like a little bird's."

Lorde and Taylor Swift's Friendship

The "Royals" singer revealed that a special friend, who has also been in her shoes once before, and one of the music industry's biggest stars gave her courage and imparted a lasting message that she still holds on to today.

Lorde shared a screenshot of a conversation between herself and Taylor Swift after "Melodrama" came out, and did not provide the exact results the singer was hoping for.

"You will always be imagined in my mind in a rowboat with Annie Lennox floating down a river of cool cerebral ethereal dreams but don't-f-k-with-me vibes all around you," Swift wrote. "And I don't think first week record sales singularly define a legacy."

Lorde was obviously moved by the "Love Story" singer's message enough for her to keep it for six years. She thanked Swift and added "Taylor was very kind and not wrong."

To end her sentimental message about her music, Lorde also teased fans with a newer picture of herself in a recording studio with the caption "Lots of love and see you... soon."
