At one of Bebe Rexha's headline shows in New York on Sunday (June 18), a mobile phone was allegedly thrown at her, striking her in her face and abruptly ending her performance.

Reports suggest that it was done by a man who considered it "funny."

The scene of the incident was at a venue named Pier 17, where it all began when an audience member suddenly threw an object onto the stage.

Video evidence taken by fans revealed that the singer-songwriter had reacted by clutching her face in agony before eventually falling to her knees.

Quickly attending to her aid were several production team members, later confirming that she had received stitches above her eye due to being treated by a medical professional.

In a shocking development, New York City police have arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with an incident involving throwing a cell phone at the singer-performer. Initial investigations suggest that this action was done deliberately. On Monday evening (June 19), authorities apprehended Nicolas Malvagna, an individual from New Jersey, on charges of assault and harassment, according to Rolling Stone. He is accused of two counts of third-degree assault; one count of second-degree harassment; one count of aggravated harassment in its second-degree form; and a single charge of attempted third-degree assault. The Manhattan District Attorney's office has released a statement about the incident involving Nicolas. Confirming that he had thrown the phone, they added that he did so in jest. The assailant reportedly said, "I was trying to see if I could hit her with the phone at the end of the show because it would be funny."
