Before Lana Del Rey arrived at Glastonbury's Worthy Farm for her performance, the buzz had already circulated about what could be expected of the controversial singer.

Unfortunately, after hitting the stage 30 minutes late and being cut off mid-way through her set, conversations about her gig continued to dominate Twitter and those visiting the festival this weekend.

Glastonbury vs. Lana Del Rey

The unrest between Lana Del Rey and Glastonbury that made headlines recently was undoubtedly one for the books.

In the months leading up to the event, the singer-songwriter and festival organizers quarreled in public.

It seemed as though the "Summertime Sadness" singer had grown frustrated when she noticed an error with one of their line-up announcements.

As a result, her performance at Glastonbury became a chaotic affair that has been discussed widely ever since.

At first glance, Arctic Monkeys, Guns N' Roses, Elton John, and Lizzo were named at the top of a line-up poster.

However, Lana's name was buried beneath more than 20 other acts, which sparked outrage as she was headlining on Other Stage after this issue was that all remaining acts were listed alphabetically.

Taking to her Instagram, Lana expressed her bitterness over not being announced adequately as headlining the second stage of a music event.

She sarcastically posted: Thanks for reporting that I was headlining the other set. Thumbs up."

Furthermore, she shared the poster and added: "Well, I'm headlining the 2nd stage. But since there was no consideration for announcing that, we'll see," seemingly suggesting that she wouldn't show up to perform.

Following Lana's initial outrage, her name ended up prominently featured in a rerelease of a promotional poster.

On this new version, she was listed near other prominent acts and Other Stage headliners such as Lil Nas X, Wizkid, and Yusuf/Cat Stevens.

Later, Lana confirmed that she would be taking to that stage for a performance.

Lana Del Rey Late

By 10:30 PM on Saturday, an expectant audience had assembled near The Other Stage in anticipation of the headlining act from Lana Del Rey.

As seconds turned into minutes without sign of her appearance, impatience began to set in amongst festival goers.

When the "West Coast" hitmaker eventually appeared on stage, she was met with a chorus of boos - 30 minutes late for her performance.

The artist quickly humbled herself before the disgruntled crowd, announcing, "I'm so f------ late that I am about to rush this set today."

Some threatened to leave entirely had she not arrived in good time.

"If they cut power, they cut power. I'm super f------ sorry, my hair takes so long to do. I love you all. Let's keep on running the set as it's supposed to go."

During the middle of her set, the 38-year-old singer confessed that her hair had caused her to be a bit delayed.

She then allowed a hairstylist to come onto the stage and spruce up her look while she continued to perform. A camera was present as the stylist worked their magic on her locks.

Lana Del Rey Cut Off

At the stroke of midnight, Lana Del Rey's mic was abruptly silenced.

The former shot of Lana on the big screen suddenly faded out and gave way to an advertisement for the Arcadia stage at the Glastonbury festival, which heralded the launching of Skepta B2B Jammer's set.

Despite being deprived of electricity, it looked like Lana was still trying to make her voice heard, attempting to reason with someone offstage in hopes that power would be restored.

As the clock struck curfew at Glastonbury, Lana held her ground and continued to delight the crowd with a performance of her song "Video Games."

BBC Snub

Having aired on BBC iPlayer, the highly anticipated performance of Lana Del Rey was expected to be available for fans to catch up with via its catch-up stream.

However, as she is the only headline act from Glastonbury this year without her gig appearing on the channel, viewers are left wondering whether this could be a snub from the BBC, given her late arrival.

On Sunday night, a statement was released by BBC in response to widespread criticism.

They said: "Lana Del Rey's set was broadcast in full on Saturday night and we are delighted that we can include selected tracks as part of our on-demand offer on BBC iPlayer, as agreed with the artist."
