Hamilton Original Broadway Cast Recording

If people need any more proof that "Hamilton" is a cultural phenomenon, maybe an RIAA Diamond Certification can finally pin it down!

The original broadway cast recording featured Lin Manuel Miranda, Leslie Odom Jr. Jonathan Groff, Daveed Diggs, Christopher Jackson, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Philippa Soo, Jasmine Cephas-Jones, Okieriete Onaodowan, and Anthony Ramos, among many others.

Historically speaking, the recording is now the first ever musical theatre album that has achieved this certification. A Diamond RIAA certification means that the album has already sold 10,000,000 verified units in the United States.

It is the fastest-selling Original Broadway Cast Recording album to date. According to Playbill, "Les Miserables'" Original Broadway Cast Recording was only certified 4x platinum more than a decade after it was released.

In comparison, "Hamilton" was certified platinum not more than a year after it was released. In 2018, it both got its 4x and 5x Platinum certifications.

The publication also noted that out of the album's 46 tracks, six are already 2x Platinum, 22 are Platinum, and 18 are Gold-certified by RIAA.
