Elvis Presley's stepbrother David Stanley, who claimed in the Amazon Prime documentary that the late King of Rock and Roll died by suicide, issued an apology following the controversial remark.

Prime Amazon released the documentary "Elvis' Women," which revolves around the life of Presley before his death. Elsewhere in the flick, Stanley shared his belief that the singer died by suicide in 1977, although authorities ruled that he died due to heart failure worsened by his drug use and unhealthy eating habits prior to his demise.

Elvis Presley's Cause of Death Not Suicide

After Stanley's statement went viral, he issued an official apology over the controversial remark through a social media post Tuesday. He wrote on Instagram that he is sorry for making the allegation about Presley being unable to carry on due to his guilt from establishing relationships with minors before his untimely death.

He also admitted he had no excuse for making the claim about Elvis Presley's cause of death.

"I love and will always love Elvis and being part of his family," he captioned the post, which featured a photo of him alongside the late King of Rock and Roll. "He is more than worthy of the love you have for him. He loved you. I love you and all I can ask of you is for you to forgive me for my irresponsible actions."

Page Six previously shared a screenshot of a since-deleted Facebook post in which Stanley said he never made the claims in the documentary and that people who believed he could say it were "fools." He warned to seek legal advice from his attorney due to the "challenging headlines" written and published about his alleged quotes for the documentary.

What David Stanley Said About Elvis Presley's Cause of Death

Stanley's apology statement came after he said in the "Elvis' Women" documentary that Presley "premeditated taking the medications that killed him."

The 67-year-old claimed that the singer's overwhelming feelings made him realize he could not take anything anymore. He soon alleged that his stepsibling could not carry on with his life due to fears that his relationships with teen girls and minors would be exposed in a book, per Irish Mirror.

Stanley also expressed how Presley's alleged actions made him feel sick, especially since the late singer reportedly got away with things because of his influence, money, and power.
