Shakira has proven time and time again that she is a powerful and unwavering woman; her newest revelation about her cheating ex makes fans wonder how she even got through it.

The "Hips Don't Lie" singer was hit with one blow after another last year: she was charged with tax fraud by the Spanish government, her father was hospitalized, then her long-time boyfriend Gerard Pique was cheating on her.

"Everything was happening all at once, my home was falling apart," Shakira recalled in an interview with People en Espanol.

"I was finding out in the press that I had been betrayed while my father was in the ICU. I thought I wouldn't survive so much."

Shakira had been together with the football player for more than a decade, and they share two children, Milan and Sasha.

After the affair was publicized, the "She Wolf" singer and Pique announced their separation, and a gruesome child custody battle ensued.

However, less than a year later, Shakira is picking up the pieces and coming back stronger than ever.

Shakira's Lowest Point

During her interview, Shakira lamented how difficult the situation was, after all, her beloved parent was in a critical state and she could not even speak with him.

"The man that has loved me the most, my father, wasn't by my side when I most needed him," she said. "I couldn't speak to him or receive the advice from my best friend that I so needed."

According to reports, the singer's father, William Mebarak Chadid, got injured during one of her son's first communion.

Although, looking back, perhaps it was that breaking point that led Shakira to her biggest triumphs today.

Shakira Wins Again

After her breakup, Shakira released her hit song "BZRP Music Sessions Vol. 53" with producer Bizarrap; the song is about reclaiming her power and owning her success.

"I was out of your league, that's why you're/ With someone just like you," Shakira sang. "She's got the name of a good person/ Clearly, it's not how it sounds/ She's got the name of a good person/ Clearly."

Following the devastations in her personal life, Shakira has enjoyed much success in her music career.

After the song's release, she received Woman of the year at the Billboard's Latin Women in Music 2023 gala in May; on top of that, the song debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100.
