Toby Keith gave fans an update regarding his health in an interview, and it seems like he is doing a lot better after announcing his stomach cancer diagnosis a year ago.

"I'm feeling pretty good," the country star shared enthusiastically. However, since he is not completely out of the woods yet, he is still cautious. "Basically, everything is in a real positive trend ... you never know with cancer, so you have to prepare."

Keith has been singing and writing songs for about a decade now; there is little to nothing that will hinder him from getting back onstage and touring-even cancer.

"I've got more wind," he continued. "And I'm thinking about bringing the band in and setting up, playing two or three days somewhere just to see if I can get through two hours."

Toby Keith's Stomach Cancer

In June 2022, Keith took to Instagram to announce to his fans that he has been undergoing chemotherapy, radiation sessions, and surgery since January of that year.

He also added that his music career will have to take a backseat while he prioritizes his health, So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax."

By December, things were looking up for the country star, who already expressed his desire to get back to making music and performing; however, he did admit that it was still difficult for him. He described his experience with cancer as "debilitating."

Toby Keith Touring Again?

Keith has managed to work it out, between chemo sessions and performances. He is now ready to test the waters and see how far he can go with his illness and desire to go back onstage.

"All I gotta do is see if I can get through two or three nights of work and get a little break in this chemo, and we'll go back to work," Keith explained, who noted that his tumor has shrunk.

In fact, Keith revealed that he might even go back on the road come fall this year if everything goes according to plan.

As of this writing, the 61-year-old singer is hopeful that he can get back a portion of his normal life back; he is currently taking his time returning to his old schedule of performing.

In the future, he aims to go and perform alongside his band for "two or three days somewhere," and maintain his usual two-hour show.
