Dave Mustaine of Megadeth has shared many harsh words against his previous band Metallica through the decades and many fans have been wondering where the frontman stands with his bandmates today. It appears that he had a change of heart based on recent interviews as it sounded differently from his statements in the past.

According to Loudwire, the musician spoke with Planet Rock's Liz Barnes where he shared nothing but positive things about Metallica.

The singer was asked about the legacy of his current group, Megadeth, and he noted that the reason why the group has been in the business for a long time is because they're trying to be the best that they can be.

"We've had adversity against us since the beginning because of Metallica. The funny thing about is that we're friends now," he said.

Mustaine then noted that the public had been assuming that there is beef between Metallica and Megadeth, but he clarified that "there really isn't." (via Blabbermouth)

Dave Mustaine is Speaking From a Place of 'Forgiveness and Healing'

He recalled how they interacted in the past, saying it was from a "negative point" but in the present, he wanted to talk about it "from a positive place" of forgiveness and of healing.

The rocker further discussed that his then-rival band went through a lot of things and he also admitted that it also happened to him.

"You've got two of the biggest bands in metal that started from the same place, had their growing pains, came to the realization that it was just a bunch of hard feelings and a bunch of hurt people," he added, explaining that people have a tendency to hurt other people if they are hurt themselves.

Adding more to where he stands with Metallica today, Mustaine said everything is now coming from a place of happiness and if people have that kind of attitude, success will always follow.

Not the First Time Dave Mustaine Spoke Positively of Metallica

This wasn't his first interview where he shared positive things about Metallica as he told Guitar World last month that there was a time two decades ago when he couldn't listen to his previous band's songs if it was played in the radio.

However, in the present, it doesn't bother him anymore, especially after doing the Big Four with them and he wanted to do it again in the future.

Although he doesn't mind listening to Metallica on the radio today, he admitted that he has not heard the band's "72 Seasons" album yet.
