Anthrax's bassist Frank Bello shared an update regarding the band's album after Charlie Benante hinted at the release of the new material.

The highly-anticipated follow-up album to Anthrax's 2016 "For All Kings" is set to be released soon, with Bello recently sharing his hopes for the band to drop it by next year.

When Is Anthrax's New Album Coming Out?

Bello sat for an interview with Ultimate Guitar, during which he gave the latest update regarding the recording sessions of the follow-up album after Benante previously said they were gearing up to build it.

According to Anthrax's bassist, they are already recording other instrumentals involving guitars and drums, but he is waiting until next month to record his bass part.

"I think we have eight or nine right now. And we'll keep writing," Bello said. "I think that's important. That's how we did the last record, and it came out the way we wanted it to. We have a good bulk of songs right now that we know already. But we still wanna have a couple of more."

He expressed his hopes to release Anthrax's new album by 2024 since the band has not released new material in almost eight years now. On top of the music project, Bello also said he wants to tour, though the band is yet to drop hints about it.

The news outlet asked the bassist if they tried to create a new album during the COVID-19 pandemic by sending media files back and forth, and Bello said they opted to get together periodically and jam together in person.

What Other Members Said About Anthrax's New Album So Far

Bello's statement followed his bandmates' updates regarding the new album. In May, his bandmate, guitarist Scott Ian, revealed to Wall of Sound's Duane James that they had worked on nine songs so far and recorded drums on them.

He did not share a potential release date, but he reportedly expects to complete it by the end of the year.

He also revealed in a social media post that they started recording on a new album and hyped fans by saying that its songs are "killer."

On the other hand, Benante told Robert Cavuoto that the follow-up album would not come out until 2024.
