Maroon 5 teamed up with Gwen Stefani for the song "My Heart is Open" on the band's forthcoming album V.

Here's hoping this one avoids any sort of radio play.

The duet between Adam Levine and Stefani doesn't ignite any sparks, and fails to become even a shell of the songs it mimics (Think "Just Give Me A Reason" meets "Stay With Me").

Most of the track features the singers incessantly wailing "Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh," while the first verse contains the only salvageable message (in terms of communication, not worthwhile meaning):

(Levine) I know you're scared
I can feel it
It's in the air, I know you feel that too
But take a chance on me
You won't regret it, no
One more "no" and I'll believe you
I'll walk away and I will leave you be
And now's the last time you'll say no, say no to me

(Stefani) It won't take me long to find another lover
But I want you
I can't spend another minute getting over loving you

Let's address another issue: The fact that this is basically Stefani's pop comeback, and it's garbage. It's easy to understand why she thought this might be a good idea — Levine and Co. crank out pop hits like nobody's business — but wow, she's probably wondering why her product is the ugly side-piece to Christina Aguilera's wifey-material "Moves Like Jagger."

In film terms, it's like Pierce Brosnan taking a decade hiatus from starring in big-budget material and then deciding The November Man was his ticket back in.

Wait, that happened?

Perhaps B-list '90s icons are slowly losing their minds. What's next, a Rivers Cuomo TV pilot?

You don't say.
