Randy Meisner was one of the key members of the Eagles since its conception in the early 1970s. However, years after the band's career took off, he decided to leave the group. It was recently suggested that his net worth would have been bigger if he stayed with his bandmates, but he chose to take care of himself.

The bassist co-founded The Eagles with the early band members Bernie Leadon, Glenn Frey, and Don Henley around the 1970s.

He was responsible for some of the group's earlier hit singles such as "Hotel California," and many more.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, the musician's fortune upon his death in 2023 was estimated to be around $15 million.

His earnings could have tripled if he didn't leave the group but he noted in a 1981 interview with People Magazine that he was "tired of touring."

Why Did Randy Meisner Leave The Eagles?

HITC reported that the musician had an argument with Glenn Frey during their show in Knoxville, Tennessee, in 1976. This led him to ultimately leave the group.

Elsewhere in his interview, he noted that being famous and being on tour is a "crazy life" and he needed to "live at twice the normal speed."

Even though the future was bright for him in terms of money, he decided to focus on his mental health.

"When it got to the point of sanity or money, I thought I'd rather have sanity," he said.

After he recorded his parts for "Hotel California," Meisner left the group and never went on tour to promote their album.

Despite not being a part of The Eagles anymore, he joined his bandmates in 1998 when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Randy Meisner Cause of Death

The Eagles broke the news on their official website and fans were shocked upon finding out about Randy Meisner's death.

In a statement, they confirmed that their good pal died at the age of 77 and his cause of death was complications from "Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary disease or COPD."

"Randy was an integral part of the Eagles and instrumental in the early success of the band. His vocal range was astonishing, as is evident on his signature ballad, 'Take It to the Limit'." they added.
