Decades after Republica's debut, Saffron now juggles her time to continue her music career while also dealing with a heartbreaking personal battle.

Republica famously released several smash hits like "Ready to Go," "From Rush Hour With Love," and "Drop Dead Gorgeous." The band disbanded in 2001 but reunited in 2008 and remained active since then.

Where Is Republica's Saffron Now?

Saffron, whose real name is Samantha Marie Sprackling, still performs in the '90s rock band while pursuing her solo career, but she also works as a mental health nurse now.

In a previous interview with The Mirror (via The Sun UK), Saffron revealed that she shifted careers and became a nurse to care for her mother, who was diagnosed with cancer and dying of the dreaded illness.

"I'm just absolutely shattered, but that's nothing new," she said. "We all knew the healthcare system was in trouble before the pandemic, but this is now a state of emergency. I was working 290 hours a month at one point."

She revealed that she chose to "do it" for her mother, who previously worked at a school for disabled children. Since she used to volunteer at the facility, she immediately felt comfortable in the environment.

Although her duty as a nurse consumes most of her time, Saffron said she also ensures she can still focus on her music career as it is vital for her mental health.

Currently, she has not confirmed whether she will release new music soon, but she previously marked milestones in her career.

Saffron Opens Up About Music Career

Saffron recalled when American film director Wes Cravens called her and asked if he could use "Drop Dead Gorgeous" for his 1990s classic, "Scream."

Aside from receiving an offer from a critically acclaimed filmmaker, her other music was also featured in "Captain Marvel" (Ready To Go), Grand Theft Auto, "Yellow Jackets," and NBC's Winter Olympic coverage.

"They're like stars - they go on shining for people and touching them, and that's the whole point of music," she continued. "It makes people feel better about themselves or brings back a memory in their lives."

Although she is dividing her time between her other career path, Saffron has also been busy with Republica in its tours and the rerelease of the band's second album, "Speed Ballads," on vinyl in April.
