The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards just released its list of nominees for this year! And for the first time ever, there are no male artists nominated for both Video of the Year and Artist of the Year.
Notably, Taylor Swift is the most nominated artist of the year, with the possibility of taking home eight Moonmans, followed by SZA with six, while Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo, Sam Smith, Doja Cat, Miley Cyrus, and Kim Petras all with five, followed by Shakira, Diddy, and BLACKPINK with four each.

For the first time since the MTV Video Music Awards were given in 1984, this was the first time that the Video of the Year nominees, the highest award of the night, did not include a male artist. While Sam Smith is born biologically male, they publicly identify as non-binary.
