It's been recently reported that Jimi Jamison, the lead singer of the rock band Survivor, passed away on Aug. 31, at the age of 63 years old, according to NBC News.

The group confirmed via their Facebook page that Jamison had indeed died. As imagined, the outcry of support has been all too astonishing, with fans leaving comments on the band's page of love and appreciation, and many sharing their own personal Survivor stories.

While word of how Jamison died was not initially known, gossip site TMZ was able to confirm via the late singer's booking agent, Sally Irwin, that he died of a heart attack in his Memphis, Tennessee home.

Jamison reportedly joined, left and rejoined Survivor a number of times following his 1984 debut hit with the band, "The Moment of Truth," which was featured in the hugely successful film The Karate Kid.

After initially coming into the group, the singer's presence quickly became an immense and an imperative fixture to their success.

Aside from a slew of other hits – including "High on You," "The Search Is Over" and "I Can't Hold Back" – the band's biggest (and perhaps most notable) success came with "Eye of the Tiger." The track was introduced in 1982, which was two years prior to Jamison's joining of the group, and shot to success when it was heard on the Rocky III soundtrack.

Jamison later delivered the vocals, however, for "Burning Heart" from 1985's Rocky IV.

Before joining Survivor, Jamison was the lead singer for Cobra. He also sang with the likes of Joe Walsh and ZZ Top.
