Tory Lanez was found guilty and sentenced to 10 years in jail for shooting fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion in the foot during a Hollywood Hills house party in July 2020.

The disgraced rapper was adamant about his innocence and refused to apologize to the "Body" rapper, saying, "I refuse to apologize for something that I did not do."

He did, however, take accountability for the wrongdoings he did during the night of the incident. "I want to say that everything that I did wrong that night I take full responsibility for.

"I take full culpability for. And I am mature enough to say where I was wrong. If I could go into it, I would, but I know that this is not the place for that. But I do take responsibility for my wrongs," he added.

Tory Lanez Maintains Innocence

According to reports, Lanez is maintaining his innocence about shooting Thee Stallion, regardless of taking responsibility for the unelaborated "wrongs" he did over three years ago.

"Regardless of how they try to spin my words, I have always maintained my innocence and I always will," he said following the verdict and his sentencing.

Tory Lanez Shot Megan Thee Stallion

Thee Stallion, who has not only suffered bullet wounds and trauma from the event, was bullied by her peers from the hip-hop community and their fans.

"Since I was viciously shot by the defendant, I have not experienced a single day of peace," her statement read. "Slowly but surely, I'm healing and coming back, but I will never be the same."

Elsewhere during the court proceedings, Lanez lamented on the night of the incident, carefully noting that he and Thee Stallion are "friends."

"I'm only here to talk to you about me and about, you know, my remorse in the situation," he said while asking for leniency following the sentencing. "And my responsibility and culpability in the situation. And I just wanted to let you know that I truly am just trying to be a better person. And if you'll allow me that chance, I promise that I will make your decision worth the while. But I will also make your decision make sense."

"[...] If I could turn back the series of events that night and change them, I would. The victim was my friend. The victim is someone I still care for to this day."

However, the Los Angeles Superior Court judge, David Herriford, noted it was "difficult to reconcile" Lanez' image as a family man and a friend when he pointed the gun at Thee Stallion.
