As the news about Britney Spears and Sam Asghari's divorce intensifies, no one could point out the exact reason why the two decided to part ways as both of them have not confirmed the reason behind their separation.
However, there are recent reports about the fitness enthusiast's thoughts on her now-estranged wife's freedom after she got out of her 13-year conservatorship.
According to a source who spoke with Entertainment Tonight, Spears is believed to be "argumentative at times" but there were also moments when she felt like her ex-partner didn't let her do a lot of things without him, meaning she wasn't able to express her independence.
When the pop star was still under her conservatorship, Asghari was supportive of her but after it ended, "Britney felt very free, but that eventually changed based on certain dynamics in her relationship with Sam."

The insider further explained that there were things that "shifted" in Spears' relationship with her estranged husband after the conservatorship.
The main reason behind it was she was following a certain routine back then, but after the legal protection ended, "a lot changed."

"Britney wanted to embrace her freedom and felt like Sam couldn't necessarily handle that," another insider noted. (via Yahoo! Entertainment)
It was also revealed that the singer doesn't want other people to control her and with her husband's presence, she felt like things are happening again like her experience under a conservatorship.

According to The New York Times, Britney Spears and Sam Asghari began dating in 2016, while the pop star was still under her controversial conservatorship.
After the conservatorship got terminated in 2021, the two announced that they were getting married.
"She's doing great, I'm great, this is the happiest time of our lives," Asghari said of her wife at the time.
They finally got married in June 2022 at Spears' mansion in California. The event was star-studded as some of the biggest celebrities gathered in one venue like Paris Hilton, Madonna, Selena Gomez, Donatella Versace, and Drew Barrymore.
Last week, Asghari filed for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences." Their marriage only lasted for 14 months.
In a statement, the actor/fitness enthusiast confirmed that they decided to end their relationship after six years and he's asking the public, especially the media, to be "kind and thoughtful."
