"Rich Men North of Richmond" catapulted to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts earlier this week after streaming and downloads for the said song were driven under the impression that it is a jab toward the current Biden Administration.

Republican leaders like Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green were proud of the song, claiming that it is an anthem of "forgotten Americans.

Notably, the song also became a talking point at the most recent Republican Primary Debate.

'Rich Men North of Richmond' Included In GOP Debate

Surprisingly, on the very first Republican Debate for the 2024 Presidential Elections, the first question of the debate was neither foreign policy, Donald Trump's arrest, nor LGBTQ rights, it was why they think the song "Rich Men North of Richmond" hit a chord on Americans.

Presidential aspirant Ron DeSantis took a jab at President Joe Biden in his answer, while also referencing the chart-topping song. (via Fox News)

"It's a choice. We need to send Joe Biden back to his basement and reverse American decline. And it starts with understanding we must reverse Bidenomics so that middle-class families have a chance to succeed again," adding that the country "cannot succeed when the Congress spends trillions and trillions of dollars and that those "rich men north of Richmond have put us in this situation."

Aside from DeSantis, Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green sang praises to the song. She tweeted:

"This is the anthem of the forgotten Americans who truly support this nation and unfortunately the world with their hard earned tax dollars and incredibly hard work. This song represents my district and the people of America I know and love. I will fight for the forgotten American every damn day."

The song has since been claimed by Republicans and Conservatives as a song directed toward the current Democratic administration. However, that seemed to be not the case at all.

Oliver Anthony Clarifies 'Rich Men North of Richmond' Not For GOP, Democrats

In a 10-minute video uploaded on YouTube, "Rich Men North of Richmond" singer Oliver Anthony clears the air on which side of the spectrum was the song intended for.

"It's aggravating seeing people on conservative news try to identify with me, like I'm one of them," Anthony revealed. "It's aggravating seeing certain musicians and politicians act like we're buddies and act like we're fighting the same struggle, like we're trying to present the same message."

Anthony also admitted that it was "funny" seeing his song in the said debate because he wrote the song, primarily for them.

"So for them to have to sit there and listen to that, that cracks me up. It was funny seeing the response to it. That song has nothing to do with Joe Biden - it's a lot bigger than Joe Biden. That song is written about the people on that stage - and a lot more, too. Not just them, but definitely them," he furthered.
