U2 is set to perform at their Las Vegas residency shows late next month and it appears that fans will miss one key member of the group as he will not be able to join them. More recently, Adam Clayton speaks out about his fellow bandmate that has been recovering from surgery.

According to the Irish Mirror, member Larry Mullen Jr. will not join his legendary bandmates on their series of concerts at the MSG Sphere this autumn.

Unfortunately, the drummer underwent surgery after an injury and Clayton said the musician will have a hard time not joining the group for their series of concerts.

Mullen Jr. will be replaced by Bram van den Berg, popularly known for being a member of the Dutch rock band Krezip.

"The whole band and I'm sure the audience are going to be very sad and miss Larry," Clayton said.

There is still a chance for the drummer to come back as his bandmate assured fans that if he wants to come back or continue his career in drumming, they would appreciate him.

Larry Mullen Jr. Not Joining U2 in Las Vegas Residency

Elsewhere in the interview with RTE Radio 1, Clayton said his bandmate is currently taking care of his injuries and he was the one who suggested the van den Berg join them on tour as he recovers.

"It is a difficult moment to know that your band is going on stage and you're not with them," he said of his bandmate's feelings.

This was not the first time someone had to sit out of U2's concert due to a problem as Bruce Springsteen once replaced Bono during a show which Clayton found "strange."

Aside from Springsteen, Chris Martin of Coldplay also had the chance to perform in the past.

Regarding his message to the drummer, the musician said he needs to get his health back together again but he shouldn't be worried because van den Berg is doing his best to learn the songs that he would play starting this September.
