Simon Cowell, one of the most powerful men in the entertainment business, reportedly prefers to see his nine-year-old son Eric succeed him as the lead judge on "America's Got Talent."

However, it seems that his youngster already has his sights set on being a world-famous musician rather than someone who evaluates the skill of others.

The 63-year-old said in an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com that Eric is still getting the hang of selecting talented artists.

"Trust me, he is in training," the doting dad explained. "He sits and watches the shows with me before they go out and I don't ask him, but I look at his reaction because kids don't lie."

"If they are bored, they are bored and if they are interested in something, they are... And that's really helped me actually. I hope he does what I do," he added.

However, it turns out that his child is far more eager to have his turn in the limelight, to the chagrin of the father.  Simon shared, "He has said the dreaded words, "Daddy, can I audition for you? And I'm like, "Oh, No!""

Eric's father said that the budding singer aspires to join a band one day, and that he would even be prepared to share his achievement with others. He desires to join a band.

Green Day is his jam, Simon shared. Simon made it plain that if his kid tried out for him, he would never be given any preferential treatment.

Eric will undoubtedly face the same harsh criticism that made Simon famous through his work as a talent judge on TV programs.

In 2014, Simon and his 45-year-old fiancée Lauren had their son Eric. Simon is now engaged to Lauren, with whom he will wed after putting an end to his bachelor lifestyle. American socialite Lauren also has a 16-year-old son named Adam from a previous union with entrepreneur Andrew Silverman.

Their kid was present when Simon proposed to Lauren on Christmas Eve in Barbados, and it has been previously reported that the pair wants to put their son "front and center" at the wedding. Simon will undoubtedly be able to offer guidance on how to deal with criticism from the public if Eric ultimately decides to follow in his father's footsteps and work in the entertainment industry.

There will always be haters, Simon said to DailyMail.com in response to a question on how he reacts to them. According to him, it is not that he is ignoring these people, but being surrounded by supportive people at work makes him indifferent to those haters he does not even know.
